Principal of Ashgrove Primary School

My career in education spans over 28 years experience. I was appointed Principal at Ashgrove at the start of 2007.  Prior to that I was Principal at Breens Intermediate in Christchurch for 6 years.  Prior to that I taught in several primary and intermediate schools in other cities including Palmerston North and Nelson.  Other experiences I have enjoyed have included working for the Education Review Office in Southland, Dunedin and in the wider Canterbury region and Christchurch city.

I believe I have a good understanding of learning and teaching and how that should be transferred to cater for children and their individual needs.  I like to develop a positive, encouraging and inclusive atmosphere in an environment where every child is made to feel valued and given the confidence to take risks.  Their efforts will always be encouraged and accepted irrespective of ability or background.

I have a strong belief in parents as first educators and by working together we can achieve better outcomes for our children to participate in a rapidly growing informed society.

As a member of the school team I look forward to working along side dedicated, highly motivated colleagues and I am very excited by the opportunities offered at Ashgrove.

A mother of three children and a grandmother, an active sports and fitness enthusiast.  I enjoy a number of past time activities that include reading, gardening, travelling and spending time with family and friends.  I live in the North Canterbury area and look forward to a long association with new parents and families joining Ashgrove School.
