Kia Ora & Welcome to Ashgrove School
Kia Ora Whānau
Welcome to Ashgrove School. My name is Leon Van't Veen and I am the very proud principal of this amazing learning community.
We are tremendously proud of our school and feel it is a privilege to work and learn here. We are very pleased and could not be more proud to share our wonderful school with you.
We are a busy, exciting and creative school community located on the North West side of the Rangiora Township north of Christchurch. We ensure children in our care will be given the best learning experiences.
Ashgrove School has a long and positive history of serving our local community, and providing students with authentic and engaging learning experiences.
At Ashgrove School it is our goal to develop children who are creative, collaborative and confident. We have high expectations for our students and their achievement and work to ensure that all of our students are provided with the skills and knowledge to achieve their goals.
Students and teachers engage in collaborative teaching and learning. Teachers strengths are utilised within a hub to ensure students are engaged in rich learning experiences in a variety of ways. Students engage in small group and independent learning within their homerooms and across their hubs, making choices over their learning, goals and pathways in collaboration with the teacher.
We live and breathe our STAR values at Ashgrove School.
- We show service / ratonga by helping others
- We show trust / whakapono by being self-regulated learners
- We demonstrate a
positive attitude /
wairua by showing
initiative, resilience, fair play and willingness to give things a
go
- We show respect / whakaute and responsibility / takohanga by being kind, helpful and fair to others and showing leadership qualities.
There is a strong sense of partnership with our parents and community working together for the same common goal - for our students to 'grow together for success!'
The staff are an amazing group of people. They work enthusiastically, keeping up with the latest professional development, and constantly go above and beyond for the students in their care.
We warmly invite visitors to come along and meet our friendly staff and children. We are proud of 'our place.'
