Parent and Teacher Association

Welcome to the Ashgrove School Parent and Teacher Association (PTA). We are a very active group of parents and staff representatives which includes the Principal, Board of Trustees (BOT) Representatives and teachers, with the primary function of fundraising for the direct benefit of the students, teachers and school as a whole.  In March of each year we hold an Annual General Meeting, where the election of a Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and deputies is conducted.

We have held many fun activities for children and families to take part in, both at school and at home, with the aim of fundraising for any extra needs in the classroom and school grounds that the government budget does not cover. Some of the activities and events we have held include a gala, quiz night, discos, mufti days, personal calendars, sausage sizzles and raffles to name a few.

Over the past few years we have contributed in many ways: providing whiteware in the hall kitchen; curtains, sound and lighting for the hall; library shelves; sports equipment and uniforms; monetary gifts to each classroom for Christmas activities; shade sails and sandpits; digital cameras, and data projectors for every classroom. In 2009 teachers were given the opportunity to ask for donations for extra equipment, with a total of $20,000 given by the PTA utilised to purchase a number of needed items. Last year, we contributed to the upgrading of the junior playground, purchased and installed basketball hoops and backboards in the hall, obtained school flags for external events, and many more!

These achievements are not possible without the support from the PTA and parent volunteers throughout the school. Whether you have time for active participation in the PTA or can provide one off assistance, your help can make the difference.

We hold our meetings in the staff room at 7.30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month.  You are more than welcome to attend a meeting if you would like to contribute in any way.
